Printing Tips
With the addition of natural wood powder, PLA Wood exhibits the following distinct characteristics compared to regular PLA.
1. Higher Moisture Absorption: PLA Wood contains natural wood powder, making it more sensitive to moisture. Dry before use to ensure the best print quality and consistent finish.
• Storage and Drying: Although PLA Wood is thoroughly dried and vacuum-sealed prior to shipping, variations in transport conditions may affect its moisture level. We strongly recommend drying it right after opening and storing it in a sealed container with desiccant. Repeat drying and moisture-proofing before each long-term storage period.
• Drying Guidelines: For best results, dry at 55 ± 5°C for 8 hours in a blast drying oven.
2. Color Variation: Natural wood powder may result in slight color variations depending on the drying level and raw material differences.
3. Wood-like smell: During printing, PLA Wood emits a mild, natural wood scent due to the wood powder content. It is non-irritating and non-toxic.

- What is PLA Wood Filament? - PLA Wood Filament is a special type of 3D printing material that combines regular PLA (Polylactic Acid) with natural wood fibers. This mixture gives the printed objects a unique wood-like appearance and a matte texture, making them look and feel reminiscent of real wood.
- Is PLA Wood Filament easy to use? - Yes! PLA Wood Filament is designed to be beginner-friendly, meaning that even if you're new to 3D printing, you can use it with a lot of success. It's easy to print, and many find it enjoyable to work with.
- What should I know before printing with PLA Wood Filament? - Before you start printing, it’s important to dry the filament first, as it can absorb moisture. Dry it at about 55 degrees Celsius for about 8 hours. Also, be aware that the filament will give off a gentle wood scent as it prints, which is non-toxic!
- What colors does PLA Wood Filament come in? - PLA Wood Filament is available in two beautiful colors that resemble natural wood: Yellow and Cedar Brown. This gives you flexibility to create unique items with a wood-like finish.
- What are the recommended printing temperatures? - For best results, set your nozzle temperature between 190 to 220 degrees Celsius. This range helps melt the filament properly for a smooth print.
- Can I use PLA Wood Filament with any 3D printer? - Yes, PLA Wood Filament works well with most commonly available FDM 3D printers since it has a diameter of 1.75 mm. Just make sure your printer's settings are compatible.
- Is PLA Wood Filament environmentally friendly? - Yes! PLA Wood Filament is made from biobased materials, which means it's better for the environment than many other plastic filaments. It allows you to create while being mindful of ecological impacts.
- What should I do if I notice color variation in my prints? - Since PLA Wood Filament contains natural wood fibers, slight color variations can occur. This is normal and adds to the uniqueness of each printed object.
- How should I store PLA Wood Filament? - To keep your PLA Wood Filament in good condition, store it in a cool, dry place. It’s best to keep it in a sealed container with a desiccant to avoid moisture absorption.
- Can I print detailed objects using PLA Wood Filament? - Absolutely! While providing a rustic texture, PLA Wood Filament can still achieve good detail in your prints. Just ensure your printer settings are optimized for the best quality.
